Multi-Channel Sound:
For the finest home theater and surround sound
music systems, requiring multiple channels of superb sound, Bryston's
9B THX five-channel modular amplifier provides you with an extremely
versatile and flexible source of power. The 9B THX is the ideal
choice for an audiophile-quality surround installation where high
power for the two fronts, one center channel and two rear channels
is desired.
The Bryston 9B THX is a hand-crafted, modular,
single-chassis 5-channel power amplifier delivering 120 watts
per channel at 8 Ohms, and 200 watts at 4 Ohms. Each Modular channel
contains all the electronic circuitry connections and independent
power supply, necessary to deliver the best possible sonic quality.
The chassis simply supplies AC and five power LED's on the front
panel indicating each channel's functional status, (green for
power-on, red for overdrive). A 17-inch faceplate version without
handles is also available.
New Standards of Accuracy:
The Bryston THX amplifiers incorporate the use of an innovative
gain stage topology, which yields the quietest possible noise
floor through the use of low-impedance pathways within the amplifier.
This approach also has strong advantages in improving overall
distortion performance. Bryston's computer-controlled distortion
analyzers confirm intermodulation distortion levels less than
10 parts per million (below 0.0009%) are typical for this new
circuitry. The 9B THX amplifier uses Bryston's proprietary Quad-Complementary
output section, which improves linearity to a new standard of
accuracy, while virtually eliminating aggressive higher harmonic
distortion products. These power supplies employ multiple filter
capacitors per channel, rather than a single pair of larger filter
cans. This improves high frequency response and reduces overall
losses in the supply. Gold-plated balanced or single-ended (RCA)
input connectors are standard as well as gold-plated 5-way loudspeaker
binding posts, to eliminate possible causes of distortion from
corrosion. A rear panel switch allows for the use of Balanced
inputs (XLR or 1/4" phone jack) or unbalanced inputs (RCA).
The balanced inputs can be switched to allow normal gain (23 dB)
or high gain (29 dB). The RCA inputs have a gain of 29 dB. From
input to output, all the circuitry in the 9B THX has been optimized
for the most accurate performance and flexibility possible.
5 Modular Channels
Independent Power Supplies:
Exclusive to Bryston among 5-channel amplifiers, independent (one
per channel) toroidal-transformer power supplies provide precise
and focused sound-staging. Bryston's research has shown that all
amplifiers require separate power supplies per channel for the
best imaging, clarity and dynamic range, especially crucial given
today's and tomorrow's most demanding digital sound sources.
The Lucasfilm Home THX certification parameters
are easily met for their intended use within a multi-channel audio/video
installation. The 9B THX amplifier comes standard with a rear
panel, 4 to 12 volt (A/C or D/C), power on/off trigger function
to allow remote turn-on from your processor.
Unique Burn-In Procedure:
Each and every Bryston amplifier undergoes a
very extensive "burn-in" procedure. Following a complete
operational checkout, every amplifier is placed on a test-bench
and run for 100 hours at full output (one-hour on/one-hour off
for additional thermal stress), with a high frequency squarewave
input and a capacitive load. This extremely rigorous burn-in quickly
"matures" components and weeds out any potential premature
failures. The result is reliable trouble-free performance for
many years, and is backed by Bryston's exclusive 20 year full
warranty.
The Consequence:
Obviously the goal of
all this technology is to transport you to the scene of the movie
or the location of the musical recording. Experiencing all the
drama, movement and emotions intended is the one and only true
measure of any audio/video system. We know you will agree, the
Bryston 9B THX amplifier provides you with an open window on your
listening experience.
